Adam's Festival Of Hope

With a capacity of 5000 people, we needed something substantial as not to "bounce" the sound all over the massive hangar so we agreed on bringing in a BIG 20k OHM rig.
That sounds big, but they were dwarfed by the huge stage we had constructed.
Measuring a massive 32' x 16' it was a picture with the blue & white back drops hung around it.

It took a team of 4 of us, nearly three days to complete the stage & lighting rigs.

A specialist team of scaffolders were brought in to erect the lighting rigs in the roof of the pavilion with were to hold all the lights that were used. The guys worked hard during probably the hottest week all year, nearly 7 meters up in the roof 6 inches away from the insulated box profile sheets that cover the roof. The heat inside was tremendous, topping 29 degrees at most points, and this was inside remember!

Upon arrival of the lights & sound systems, we worked into the early hours of the 16th to get everything in place & working.

8 massive DMX controlled robotic moving heads were placed up in the rig, with 1000's of yards of cables to run to the lighting control desk. The guys did a tremendous job setting up for this event. At one point, even I was hanging by the skin on my nails, 7 meters above the floor to get everything right.

At 2am, it was time for home, bed & sleep - bit I didn't have a chance. I had the days formats to re-write & print, lists of performers names & performance time to work out. I finished about 4am, had an hours kip, jumped into the shower & was back in Carew by 6am, stopping quickly to pick up a crate of RED BULL to see me through the day. haha

The day went without a hitch, careful planning along with last minute program adjustments made it all run effortlessly.

5pm saw the arrival of Chris & his man from Westcoast fireworks who had donated the Pyrotechnics for us that day as it was for charity - good on you Chris. They were set up in no time at all and were sitting sipping coffee watching the FESTIVAL SHOW, & what a show it was. We had bangs & flashes going off everywhere, flames in red & blue started the choir off with some superb lighting effect from the guys on the light desk - well done guys.

The bands that performed were fantastic, they could be heard from all over the airfield, drawing the people who were leaving back into the pavilion. The sound was fantastic all day & you'd be shocked that only 1 person was controlling the entire sound. Nice one "J".

I was backstage all day, didn't even see the light of day - along side was me man James who was the "If your names not down, your not coming in" guy. he did really well, but needs to drink more coffee I think, calm down dear, its only a singer!

Apart form that, the day went really quick, by the time I stopped for a brake, I had the guys asking for the lights to come down! We eventually finished about 2am, then it was time for home & bed.
